Women Leading the Way – Highlighting Female Leadership in Regional and Maritime Governance

As part of the #CPMRWomen initiative celebrating International Women’s Rights Day 2024, the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) hosted the event “Women Leading the Way”. This virtual gathering aimed to shine a spotlight on the essential contributions of women in leadership, particularly within regional and maritime governance.

A standout moment of the event was the participation of Ibtissem Sarra Boumeslout, Co-President of the Mediterranean Youth Council. Drawing from her own journey as a young Mediterranean woman committed to regional political engagement, she spoke passionately about the need to promote equal opportunities, advance women’s empowerment, and ensure youth inclusion in political processes. Her testimony underscored the importance of creating space for diverse voices in shaping the future of governance across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
