The Mediterranean Youth Academy in Alexandria

Updated: Oct 12, 2023

The Mediterranean Youth Council was present at the second edition of the Mediterranean Youth Academy in Alexandria (Egypt), an initiative by the Mediterranean Youth Foundation, with the partnership of several regional actors such as the European Union delegation in Egypt, the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Anna Lindh Foundation.

From September 15th to 18th, dozens of young people from several countries gathered in one of the cities-symbol of the rich history of the Mediterranean, to participate in an initiative which aimed to facilitate dialogue between Europe, Asia, and Africa and raise awareness about the challenges facing the Mediterranean countries.

In the unique setting of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the participants engaged in a four-day training program during which conferences alternated with thematic workshops on various subjects: youth empowerment and entrepreneurship, climate change, migration, gender inequality and human rights.

At the same time, it was the occasion to highlight the opportunities for young people in the Mediterranean and a chance for the Mediterranean Youth Council to be known by an increasingly wider audience through the participation of its representatives in interviews and debates.
