Mediterranean Youth Council Joins Forces for a Just and Sustainable Energy Future at the UfM Forum in Cairo

On October 2, 2024, the Mediterranean Youth Council took part in the 4th Union for the Mediterranean Energy and Climate Business Forum, a flagship event organized during Cairo Sustainable Energy Week. This gathering brought together prominent actors from across the Mediterranean region, including policymakers, private sector leaders, and young change-makers, all united around a common goal: advancing sustainable energy and climate action.

MYC took part in discussions focused on green finance and innovative funding mechanisms—essential tools for advancing a fair and inclusive energy transition in the region. The forum emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration, highlighting how meaningful partnerships between public institutions, businesses, and youth can accelerate the shift toward sustainable energy systems.

During the event, MYC also reaffirmed its belief that there is no sustainable future without peace. As climate and environmental pressures intensify across the region, the Council stressed the need to integrate peacebuilding and youth participation into all climate-related efforts. For MYC, young people are not only stakeholders but essential actors in shaping a just, peaceful, and sustainable Mediterranean future.
