From 2 to 4 October 2024, the 52nd General Assembly of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR)brought together regional leaders from across Europe in Gozo, Malta. The event served as a key platform to address pressing territorial and maritime issues, strengthen interregional cooperation, and advocate for the interests of maritime regions at the European level.

The Mediterranean Youth Council was proudly represented by Ibtissem Bouselmout and Antonella Bugeja, who played a central role by moderating a high-level breakfast debate focused on women’s empowerment in politics. Their contribution helped spark meaningful dialogue on gender equality and leadership across regional institutions.

Ibtissem also delivered a powerful speech highlighting the key challenges and opportunities facing coastal regions, underlining the vital role of youth and inclusive governance in shaping resilient and forward-looking maritime territories.
The Assembly reaffirmed the importance of strong regional voices, and young ones, in shaping the future of Europe's coastal and maritime areas.
